QMB uses maintenance policies for configuring database maintenance tasks. Prior to creating a policy, you need to register an SQL server in the program.

To create a maintenance policy, select an SQL server from the list and click the  Add a maintenance policy button. The maintenance policy creation wizard will start. It consists of the following steps:

1. Selection of a maintenance policy template or creation of an empty policy
2. Selection of maintained databases
3. Configuration of backup creation, coping and storage parameters
4. Viewing and editing of QMB Jobs (when creating a template-based policy)
5. Entering the name of the maintenance policy
6. Final step of the maintenance policy creation wizard
7. Execution of recommended operations prior to starting regular maintenance using a policy (if required)
